Sleeping Curse

Updated: Sep 1

ree
Like ice to the touch
Blanket of winter snow
A hardened stone
That no tears may move
Pale blue reflection
Of the twilit sky

Frostbitten Touch
Of thy lips to mine
Warmth of my heart
Forgotten to yours
If only mine warmth
‘Twas yours to steal

Written by Nathaniel Holloway

Inspiration for the Poem:
Sleeping curses are common in fairytales and folklore, but rare to read or watch a story wherein "true love's kiss" does not work. The narrator of this poem is one unfortunate soul who loved a fair maiden, cursed to eternal slumber, whose love remained unreciprocated, and the fair maiden remained asleep.
